Trois Rois is a particular favourite of ours and we try and return at least once a year either going or returning from our summer jaunt. Like many sites at home and abroad there are things that are right and things that are wrong. The best has to be the location. It is situated next to the Seine, within easy walking distance of the twin towns of Andelys (Petite and Grande) with bread shops and supermarkets, bistros and restaurants. It is in the shadow of the ancient Richard The Lionheart castle which is worth a visit during the day for its spectacular views and is tastefully lit after dark. All the pitches are large and if you\'re lucky you can get a pitch either next to the river to watch the large leisure cruisers and barges travelling up and down, or next to the inland lake to watch otters, kingfishers and other water fowl. It truly is the most perfect picnic spot. The modern unisex toilet block in the centre is kept very clean and seems to adequately serve the site. There is also a swimming pool and a bistro/bar where you can get takeaway or eat in. Monet\'s Giverney is close by as is the historic towns of Vernon and of course Rouen. So what\'s bad? Not a lot. Reception could have been friendlier, there is a bit of daytime traffic noise and the other toilet block is still trapped in the \"municipal\" site era, although is kept clean and is not unisex. The gents urinal is amusing! You can use the site as an overnighter on your way south or north but I would urge you stay longer as it well worth it.
This site is dominated by the ruins of Château Gallion and with its position overlooking the Seine it creates a stunning vista. Large, flat pitches complement the first class toilet and shower facilities. What is there not to like about this site? Highly recommended, as is a visit to \'Richard\'s place\' atop the overlooking hill.
Excellent camp site. One of the best I\'ve stayed on in this region, large pitches, good toilet facilities but could do with another block, very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely stay here again.
Very flat pitches on the bank of the Seine. Barges could be seen through the day passing the site, which kept it interesting.
Good short stay site, in interesting location. We have used this site a couple of times when travelling south because of its location to the main routes.
It\'s a very good reliable site that can be depended upon.
Level, hedged grassy pitches some right by the river. Large boats passing throughout the day and night.
Newish toilet block with push button showers, wc with seats and toilet paper.
Internet very expensive. Views from site of Chateau Gaillon which you can walk up to from site.
Stayed for 5 nights, very friendly and helpful staff, close to town and castle, very good new shower block kept very clean at all times, would use again.
Just an overnight stop but seemed to have excellent facilities for families with swimming pool & play area. These were well enough away from main site so there was no problem with noise. Large well maintained pitches but I can believe there would be a problem with soft ground. Toilet / shower facilities good but no separate blocks for males & females - not good!
We stayed at the site for just one night on our way further South in our 6m motorhome. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. Our on-line booking had been received so there were no problems with this. Our pitch was large and they are well spaced out. The site is large but when we were there, at the start of August, it was no too busy. The toilet block seemed quite new and was excellent.
Although we only used the site for an overnight stop we would be happy to stay there for longer.
Booked in for 3 nights 28-30th March 2015. Was given a large pitch to take my 7.5m Hymer with a Smartcar and trailer. Pitches are all grass and as the site has the river Seine on three sides, the ground will always be a little soft for motorhomes. My friends needed a tow when leaving as their motorhome could not cope with the soft ground.
The toilets and wash/shower facilities are very poor. No external door to the facilities so if it is cold outside, you are cold inside. Both my friends and I complained to the office about the lack of hot water in the showers. Action was promised to increase the heat (the shower temperature is pre-set) but nothing was done and I ended up using my motorhome shower and toilet as the wash room was freezing cold.
The sporting facilities seemed to consist of a strange gentleman wandering around the site dressed in camouflage clothing and carrying a large bow and quiver of arrows, and wearing a face mask presumable to disguise his identity. I would imaging that children would find this person frankly disturbing, let alone what parents would think!!
Best avoided for families.
Great site! Very clean and well run. This is the closest I\'ve ever come to being in Seine! Pitched right next to it. But if you have sprogs you might have to tie them up as there\'s nothing to stop them falling in. We were a bit worried about the cat, but she was fine! Will go again!
