Spent 2 nights at this small quiet site, pitches good size( 7mtr motor home).facilities a bit outdated but scrupulously clean ,loads of hot water but not for washing up where facilities are limited. Friendly staff giving helpful info on walks. Swimming pool in process of being modified but looked lovely . Good bar at campsite and 2 other local bars and restaurants .We left via the \"hairpin road\" but would advise caravans to use the marked route in ie second signed road with caravan markers .Would definitely return.
1 night February 2017. A campsite of circa 40 small pitches, at least 12 of which are taken by permanent caravans. All the facilities described are available and look in reasonable condition. On the weekend we visited nearly all the permanent caravans were occupied and most housed children and infants which made it quite lively. Reception was very good. Most of the visitors I spoke to were adamant that they would not have come to this site if the access route had been properly described. It is not Exit 627 from the A7 it is Exit 601. The passage through Alhama is ok but thereafter the roads deteriorate quickly (and it is a long way). Some 7.5kms from the site you are given the option (signposted for the site) of turning left on a 7.5km ‘hairy’ ride or straight on for a 10km trip (do the extra 2.5km it will save your passengers nerves a little and the vehicle suspension from a real hammering). In the route description this choice is not described and I am still not sure if this is what they mean by 1st and 2nd exit. When you reach El Berro village do NOT drive into the village follow the signs around it.
Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Everyone on the campsite was invited for free paella one lunchtime!
Great site for hikers & dog owners! We have a 6m caravan and driving up was challenging but we were lucky there was hardly any oncoming traffic. Otherwise, it would have been very scary if we had to share the road with another vehicle. Once you get close to the village, it is important to forget your GPS & follow the signs marked with a caravan. therwise, you will get stuck in narrow roads. We stayed for a week & enjoyed all the different walks just steps from the site. I recommend the PR-MU69 for an easy 3hr walk through almond tree terraces, torrent, a cave, ruins and beautiful views of Sierra Espuña. The campsite has 3 terraces: larger pitches on the lower terrace, smaller pitches on the middle & cabins on top. Not all pitches have electricity & most don\'t have water, but the site is small so potable water is only a few meters away. Staff are nice & helpful in choosing hikes. Free Wifi is great!!! Facilities are small, basic and clean. In November, I never had to wait in line to use the bathroom or shower but I could see how this could be an issue in the summer. There is a cafe at the site + 2 restaurants with lunch menus in the village, 2 bakeries & 2 small markets. We ate the menu at Bar Sierra & for a good price you get a decent 4 course meal (salad, 1st & 2nd course, dessert) with drink & coffee. Would definitely return!!
Beautiful views and surroundings. Walks start from campsite. Small village, couple of bars and small supermarkets.
Facilities - plenty of hot water in showers although basic. Washing up cold water. Water, electric and grey waste on plot. Good wifi. Friendly staff. Angela can speak very good English and friendly.
An absolutely superb place to visit, lots of lovely walks. Ideal if you have a dog. The road is a bit snaggly but we saw campervans at the site as well as large caravans. You do need to follow the directions on how to get to the site. When we visited there was a Spanish holiday weekend and a few young families who stayed up late. Not a problem for us, but you may want to park on the top level where it\'s quieter. We loved it, children were not a problem for us. The pool was full but no one used it, perhaps because the weather had not been so warm recently. Angela, who manages the place is an absolute gem, so very helpful. We did not want to leave. Plenty of hot water in the top shower block and they were lovely and clean. We\'re asked to be careful not to waste water. Note it is also up to us campers, wherever we are, to do our bit and ensure we leave things as clean and tidy as we find them.
Although we only planned to stay here for 2 nights, we ended up staying a week as we liked the site so much. The staff were very helpful and friendly and all the facilities were open and very good. There are incredible marked walks all around the site, with such beautiful views. There are 2 restaurants in the village, with fantastic menus of the day, as well as 2 very reasonably priced supermarkets (friendly too, even gave us free cake!)
We will certainly return here, in fact I cant wait!
Great campsite in many ways, only stayed 5 days, with the power supply at 6 amps, I spent many times switching the electric back on, got fed up with that, and left
Campsite is on the edge of a small village which has a couple of bakers, a small supermarket, and a couple of restaurants. The site is terraced which gives you good views over the area from your pitch. The pitches are good sized and flat. You may need a long electric cable for some pitches. Shower and other facilities are fine. Staff who work in both the bar and reception are very friendly and provide good information about the excellent range of walks from the site. Although the site is in the hills, we found it warm enough to sit outside throughout the day, even in late October.
Visited early October, after one of the scariest drives of my life on the road recommended for caravans! One gentleman with limited English was trying to run the bar and reception. Polite but welcoming no! Couldn\'t get a smile out of any of the few local patrons on the site. In fact felt positively unwanted and as though had stumbled into a low budget horror movie. Facilities are basic, think communal changing room with 2 shower stalls and a toilet. Village is reduced to one bar / restaurant which presents an English menu unasked, plenty of meat and well cooked but not cheap. Village appears to be dying and we left early the next morning as we couldn\'t wait to get away. You need a very good reason to visit this campsite and I can\'t think of one.
