As a family we have visited this site every year since 2001, with just two breaks to visit other sites in the Vendee (2006 and 2012), neither of which, nor any others in this area compare with the Family Gagnard\'s site - which is why we return year after year. We bring our own large tent and an event shelter to the site, the pitches we select are more than ample size for both plus a car, cooking set up and all our extraneous paraphernalia (bikes, trailer etc etc). The pitches are flat, well drained (sandy base) with some rocks, tree roots and mole holes hampering our pegs but once set up under the oak trees, are very sheltered. Christian, with his brother and son manage the day to day requirements of the campers, and his wife and daughter-in-law operate the reception desk. They all run a fairly tight ship and I have known families to be ejected from the site because of their antisocial behaviour (noisy and/or drunk in the early hours). They acknowledge the majority of campers on site want some peace and quiet late on, by and large this is respected.
Many of our friends we have made on site return every year like us to this lovely place. It is away from the beaches, though they are walkable - takes 45 minutes - and the hum-drum of tourist sites, tacky shops and fast food outlets. The on site shop is OK, but the Spar shop across the road is competitive and sells most of the things campers need. The restaurant likewise, but we tend to fend for ourselves and cook food bought from Lidl or Leaderprice (very cheap, good quality not too far away - but you do need a car). Cycle hire shop on site (again we don\'t use it because we bring our own) but there are some good tracks adjacent to the site which are scenic, safe and quiet. The pool can get busy, but is well managed, clean and in good repair (no broken tiles etc.)
A good site not to far from coast and shopping, resturant is excellent could not be bettered, toilet block had just been finished when we where there so was fantastic
We have been to this site before and would go again,
Last year We arrived to early before the site was open but not problem Christian and his Family cleared a pitch for us and made us very welcome ,We stayed for 6 weeks and this year We stayed for 5 weeks .
We would highly recommend .
Just returned from a lovely 12 nights here. The pitches are huge and the site is well laid out. There are some static units on site, but they are located in separate areas. One of the toilet blocks has been completely refurbished over the winter and has great facilities, although we did miss some hooks on which to hang towels and clothes in the showers. These may yet be added as we think the fine touches have yet to be made. There\'s a lovely restaurant on site and also a small shop and a swimming pool, which looked very inviting, but we didn\'t use it.
We stayed as part of a small UK rally, but wouldn\'t hesitate in returning to this site when next in the area.
Have stayed on this excellent site now four times and will certainly visit again when in the area.
Always a friendly welcome, convenient location for touring the area. Only criticism, costly Wi-Fi.. However the supermarkets nearby offer free Wi-Fi access so it\'s quite easy to catch with emails from home.
Overall a pleasurable stay
We were recommended to Camping Le Logis du Breuil by acquaintances and also checked reviews which looked very good. As we had our daughter and son in law joining us for part of our trip, we booked the site for our 3 week stay in France rather than using Acsi or Camping Cheques as we normally do. The site is peaceful, the staff friendly and the grounds are well kept. Unfortunately, that is where the positive part of this review ends. The toilet blocks were the worse we have come across in France, cleaning was minimal, the toilet bowls were disgusting and the showers lasted about 10 seconds before you had to press the button again. There was no thermostatic control on the showers so on hot days when you wanted a cool shower the water was so hot it was extremely uncomfortable. Most of the showers and toilets were locked despite the many caravans on site, and we had to ask for more to be open so that we did not have to queue! The staff responded quickly and opened more the same day.
The pitches are advertised as large but they only have a small privet bush between. Due to the design of the site (like rows of bungalows) unless you are in the front row, people are constantly walking through your pitch to get to the facilities.
The tennis court was used once in the three weeks we were there, possibly due to the charge of Euro 6.10 for an hour.
The site we are sure will suit the many British people who visit and stay for quite long periods each year as they meet up with old friends but the site must improve the shower/toilets if they are to attract new customers.
Lovely site. Big pitches. Toilets very good. Outdoor pool which was a bit chilly in May but very refreshing (told it would warm up later).Good on-site shop with fresh daily bread. Restaurant was very good (food, staff and price).Lots of long term UK caravaners on the site offering lots of information. Very friendly staff who helped us out with an extra long electricity lead. Site used for Caravan Club rallies. Very good cycling routes to Palis sur mer (smashing beach, shops restaurants etc.) and the local Zoo (which was excellent). Wife found a few of the hills a bit of a slog. Royan could be cycled as well but we decided to drive. Parking available for motorhomes in all places but be wary of French national holidays as the area gets very crowded.
We visited in late May and were very surprised by the number of British people on site most of whom had been returning here for many years. Don't let this put anyone off visiting the site though it's still France and they have a wealth on information regarding the local area etcetera. The piches are huge and well laid out. Toilet facilities are excellent well maintainted and very clean. We visited in May 2010 and are hoping for a return visit in 2011 as we feel we only 'scratched the surface'. The area abound with local attractions from harbours, beaches, zoo, local market small fishing ports etcetera. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful.
This was our second visit to this site. It is an extremely spacious site by a forest with excellent dog walking in the locality. Very large pitches and at the end of the season very quiet and relaxing. Close to the beaches at St Palais and Royan and the wilder beach and sea on the Cote Sauvage. The restaurant, bar and shop were already closed by 18th September when we arrived and we were surprised that you had to pay to use the tennis court. One of the few sites we visited where British visitors outnumbered other nationalities. It has a very strong client base who return year after year as they love it there so much.
