Travelling party: Couple

This is basically a static caravan site, with a few touring pitches. There is a \'snack\' bar / restaurant etc and a shop, but I don\'t think they opened while we were there. The tourers were in two areas - a group by the road (noisy) and where we went, near to the railway line (which we didn\'t find overly intrusive). The site was very quiet when we were there in May, only the odd static was occupied, so the toilet facilities were clean enough. The drinking water taps aren\'t marked as such. The site is within easy walking distance of Chatelaillon Plage, which is a lovely seaside resort with a long promenade - well worth a visit. We quite enjoyed our stay here - good for visiting both La Rochelle and Roquefort - but I wouldn\'t want to be there in the height of season when all the statics are occupied.

Travelling party: Couple

We arrived on Sunday 24 June 2012. The restaurant was closed so dinner was not available. The cafe served only a few meals (all with chip), nothing healthy.

Travelling party: Couple

We were given a limited number of pitches to chose from and chose the best of a poor bunch as they were mainly sandy so good tentpegs are essential. Sanitary facilities were not what would be expected from a 4* site and the showers were rarely hot and the toilets were always being cleaned at the time of peak use!! Drinking water was not marked as such. The local area was well worth the stay and it is a shortish walk to the train station to get to La Rochelle at a reasonable price.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

This campsite looks great on the web but it is designed for mobile homes. We were camping as 3 families with 3 caravans. The barrier was very fast to rise and did not allow time for right hand drives to get back into the car. The toilets were not well presented excrement lay on the floor for the greater part of one day, despite the site being notified. There was no hose or water source in the chemical toilet room, the stand taps were leaking constantly. As with the two dutch reviews, there was little room or consideration given to real campers, facilities were locked at night and the wearing of a silly band was necessary to get past security. The cost were calculated for a caravan, 3 children under 5 and 2 adults. The staff were quite friendly, as a french and dutch speaker I was able to communicate with them, but not so my family, to whom they were generally unpleasant. We travelled from there to the Loire Valley, where we found a fabulous site for less money and better.

Travelling party: Family with children <4 years

Really disappointed, staff, swimming pool lovely and facilities clean and new but campsite surrounded by train track and main rd which were busy late at night it had one cafe which was limited and no shop. Beach was dark brown sand and sea, not as picture depicts! We left after one night which was a shame and ruined our holiday as we found it hard to find another campsite. Definatly not 4 star
