Beautiful setting on a hillside with some pitches overlooking the Loire. New toilet and shower facilities which I gather are the same on all Huttopia sites. They had a few problems with the plumbing while we were there but it didn\'t affect us. Good access to Saumur and other Loire towns, also great for cycling - a hill climb back to the campsite but quite gradual so not too taxing.. Liked the TV room with food served in the evening, and bar. Very relaxed, low key site.
It's a great shame - this could be very good, but it has a neglected feeling.
The reception staff were excellent, but many of the pitches looked worn and in need of some tlc.
To cap it all, when we left we found the motorhome service point blocked causing a huge puddle of grey water - not impressed!
A neglected, understaffed site in a wonderful situation.
In its current state it should not be rated as 5*! During the low season it is expected that facilities are reduced but reception/shop closing between 10.30 and 4.30 was inconvenient especially as the site was busy at the weekend (Sept 9/10-2016) Water in the showers was tepid throughout and there was no evidence of grounds surveillance at anytime, but especially after dark. There was an unauthorised party, for a large group who took over the Animation Marquee and set up arc lighting, bbq etc. It continued into the early hours without challenge from on site staff(?)who when confronted by complainants next morning, admitted they knew about it but had not authorised it!
It is obvious that this site is about to undergo refurbishment and it has a long standing reputation as an exceptional site, but after this experience it is unlikely that we will revisit!
Lovely setting, great potential.
However the site is about to be renovated and has been poorly maintained in terms of grounds and kids park, which appeared tired and had a feel of running down .
That said, toilets are kept clean and the swimming pool was clean. Baby room with bath worked well for us.
Bar hit and miss with little information on opening times and takeaway availability.
Overall quite disappointed.
The campsite is in a wonderful position above the Loire Valley with panoramic views over the river. Pitches are available (best to pre book) on the ridge with exceptional views. These pitches are sunny in the morning when it is coolest and very well shaded in the afternoon - an almost perfect combination. There are three pools which cater for children, the lazy like us, and the more energetic swimmers. There are many cycle routes nearby and the site is a good base for visiting the famous Loire chateaux including Saumur (5 miles) and the almost unbelievably magical Chenonceaux (60 miles) and many others. We loved the site and the pitches with valley views are excellent. The restaurant was basic but good value. Our only criticism was that having only one amenity block meant it was quite a distance away.
An excellent site with views of the Loire. It is well worth paying the supplement for a Loire view pitch. Toilets spotlessly clean and warm in cool weather. Covered pool also welcome in early season.
This site is in a delightful elevated position above the Loire. Beautiful & peaceful setting, with helpful and friendly staff.
Free wifi available throughout the campsite.
We didn't use the toilets or showers, so can't comment on them. The dish and clothes washing areas are good, with lashings of hot water.
Great cycling in the area & of course lots of caves to visit for wine & cremant tasting!
We would recommend a visit to watch one of the performances of Le Cadre Noir, which is about 3 miles from the campsite - even non-horsey people will enjoy it! The guided tour of the stables is very interesting & informative.
Great value at night. You can pay more for a Loire view, or for a bigger pitch, but the standard pitches are lovely, and you can find one with shade or sun, depending on your preference.
We stayed here for 2 weeks with our caravan and it is an impressive site, with efficient and friendly staff who aim to please and generally do. Toilets and Showers were excellently maintained. We will return for sure.
Lovely campsite, well maintained and staff eager to please. Well positioned for visiting the area. Fantastic views from parts of the site - for which you pay extra if you want to pitch on a "view". I believe it was 10 euro extra!
Campsite is located in quiet location overlooking the River Loire - photograph taken showing the River Loire pitches was cleverly taken as the river is about 500-750 metres away from the site down in a valley!
Pitches are a good size with a choice of shade or sunshine and separated by mature hedges and trees. Extra large pitches and those overlooking the river have an 8 euro per night supplement.
Shower and toilets are clean with plenty of hot water although the showers need some maintenance and refurbishment. The water at the washing up area was only lukewarm for most of our visit - maybe to do with the fact that the campsite was preparing to close and there were a lot less people using the facility. There are a couple of freezers are in the washing up area to enable freezing of ice packs.
Internet access is available over the campsite but is quite expensive in comparison to other ACSI sites we have visited - 9 euros for 5 hours.
Bar and restaurant was okay, take away pizzas were good and reasonably priced.
