Sadly a rundown old site. Toilets mainly hole in the floor type one of which sprayed me to the waist on flushing. Good for one night so you can visit Carcasonne but otherwise give it a miss!
Site mostly covered by trees so shaded. Facilities not the best I have seen but satisfactory. Up steps, equivalent of going upstairs in a house, but another block by reception approached up slope. Not all pitches have electricity so may have to do without when busy (as it was when we were there).
Staff excellent, bus to Carcassonne from nearby excellent!
10 minutes to town (nothing to write home about) and same to supermarket in opposite direction. Walks and cycling along Canal du Midi.
Recommended for short visit to area.
small campsite in a rundown area. nearby in trebis by canal is the only place to eat out, 5 to 10 min walk. good for cycling along canal into carcassonne.
showers etc still not updated, they are up a steep flight of stairs.
Pleasant site with adjacent indoor municipal swimming pool (very good lane swimming) with free entry for campers.
Bus from site entrance into Carcassonne (1euro 15mins), timetable available from very friendly campsite proprietor. Easy walk to bars/restaurants on Canal du Midi in town.
Toilets and washbasins have obviously been replaced for this season but building rather dated up steps but perfectly adequate.
Campsite staff very approachable and helpful.
Got caught out as the ACSI reduced rated doesn\'t apply until after 14th September. Good level spacious pitches alongside the river. Toilet block and facilities were average with hot showers, but access was up a steep flight of steps. certainly not suited for the disabled. Wi-fi was free for first 10 mins only. then had option to buy. 10 min walk into nearby Trebes town, which has restaurants and tourist information situated alongside the Canal de Midi. Cycled along the canal into Carcasonne, but path not comfortable for a road bike, so used the road on our return, plus the path was closed for 4 hours mid week day as diseased trees were being felled-info from Tourist office.
We had a 2 night stopover here so that we could visit Carcassone. Easy to find, good access. The gentleman on reception was lovely & very helpful. The pitches were very sparse & basically just dried mud do a bit dusty but this us to be expected unless you have hard standing laid. The toilet facilities were adequate but a little dated. As it was the beginning of July when we visited it was fairly quiet. We enjoyed the walk into Trebes for our evening drinks & meal sitting alongside the canal. We caught the bus to & from Carcassone as there was a stop outside the site. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would use this site again if in the area.
Just outside Carcasonne and we thought this would be a good site to visit the city. Wish we had picked elsewhere as the site was very average. Toilets could do with knocking down and a new block putting in. Not really kept that clean..
Outside the campsite are large blocks of flats which had youths making noise until the early hours.
Would not stay here again, and we moved to the city site to go into Carcasonne.
Best thing I can say is probably priced correctly with de CampingCard tarief!
Toliets very much OK. I cant quite say clean, but OK if you are quick!
We planned on going into Carcasonne from here, but to be honest the surrounding town wasnt the best and we didnt didnt feel that comfortable leaving for too long.
Days were noisy as very much a one night stop place so lots of vans moving and arriving. Also the swimming pool is used by lots of kids (with school and after) so constant voices. Nights were a little noisy as the teens were out on the streets outside the site.
Wouldnt stay again ...
l’Ombre des Micocouliers is listed as a 4 star campsite. It is great value and one of the nicest sites we stayed on. Not only because it was small and well laid out, with large pitches, nice hedging and lots of trees, but it was also on the bank of the River Aude and within 1k of the Canal du Midi.
Trebes is a very pretty town, with a fantastic church that must be visited just for its medieval wood carvings supporting the roof.
The owners of the site, Henri and Brigitte speak very good English and they are incredibly helpful.
The camp site is very near the Canal du Midi and we cycled from the campsite along it to Carcassonne in order to visit the historic town. It is ideally sited for easy access to Carcassonne, by bike, even if you are not very fit (I think it was about 15km to Carcassonne), but along a flat tow path that is a pleasure.
The restaurant was not open when we visited, so we cannot comment on that facility.
The washing facilities are a little dated, but they are all there and very clean.
We will certainly be staying there again in the future, as it is in such a convenient and pretty location
A shaded site, which I\'m sure is welcome in Summer but not in chilly May. Toilet blocks were cold with doors stuck open. Wifi was expensive and we had very poor and patchy reception. After complaining to staff they informed us that reception was poor in that area and suggested we move! Why put us there in first place when we had purchased Wifi? Close to town in easy walking distance.
