Phil and Chris, on this campsite in October 2018

Travelling party: Couple

Very popular campsite for travellers either going south or returning to U.K. as it is just off the A6 motorway. We have stayed here on a number of occasions over the last 7 years and have always received a warm welcome. Usually stay for 3/4 days to unwind from journey from Spain. Market day just over the bridge on Sunday mornings with plenty of choice of restaurants available. Showers and toilets clean with plenty of hot water available.

Very friendly and helpful reception. Information given on town and cycle paths. Liked being able to choose own pitch. Some in hedged areas and some in open spaces. New sanitary facilities. Lovely walk in to town. Would use again.

Travelling party: Seniors

A very convenient site for visiting the town centre, about 15 minute walk. The staff are very helpful and the sanitaires are excellent. Be aware of road noise from the road behind the site, pitch nearest the river would help.

Travelling party: Seniors

Excellent campsite within 15 minutes walking of centre of Chalon-sur-Saone with plenty of facilities
Toilets were first class - voie verte was ~ 3 kilometres away but you could cycle along the river to town

Travelling party: Couple

The approach to the campsite is a little off putting but once you are in the campsite is it very pleasant. They are grass, unmarked pitches with a few trees. At the beginning of June it was quite quiet. The walk into town is pleasant along the river and we had a wonderful meal in a road lined with restaurants. The campsite staff were very friendly. The only down side (which has been mentioned in other reviews) is the facility for emptying the chemical toilet, which is near the entrance to the site. As a consequence people seem to be emptying their cassettes down the toilets and making a horrible mess whilst doing so. We didn't visit the bar or the snack bar. Would stay here again but probably only as a one night stop due solely to the toilet cassette emptying problem.

Totally agree with other reviews, in as much that this is an ideal stop over on route to or from your holiday . We found the site overall very accommodating , and would use again. We are a couple, with Motorhome, so cannot comment on some sections of the review . Draw backs.....distance from end of site for toilet waste disposal....arriving late in day leaves you with having to squeeze in somewhere on grass area.

We stayed on our way back from the south of France don't let the entrance the the site put you off which is near a large bridge down a narrow road. Once you get on the site it is beautiful. The first section has small pitches framed by hedges but if you continue the second half it is a large open field with lovely flat well manicured grass and plenty of space. The toilets were clean and modern with hot showers that you can control. There is a lovely walk into the town along the riverbank and over an island which has a street full of restaurants from every corner of the globe and a couple of cocktail bars. If you walk across the second bridge into the town it has a beautiful Centre with old Tudor style buildings and lots of cafes and restaurants.

We ended up stopping two nights instead of one and would definitely stop again .

Travelling party: Couple

Lovely spot close to river and easy walk to town. Toilet/shower block extremely good. Nice hot shower with plenty of room in cubicles.

Travelling party: Couple

We stayed here as a stopover in June on route to South of France. The site is excellent as a stopover however lots to do and see in the area so a longer stay is possible. Walking distance of town centre with lots of history, places to eat and drink. A centre commercial with huge supermarket also a short walk along the river. A little gem of a site.

We stopped off here on our way down and on return from the med. The staff were extremely friendly. I can strongly recommend the pression at the bar, a really welcome refreshment at the end of a long drive. The modern sanitary facilities were spotless and plentiful. This site is very accessible to the autoroute, making it perfect for a stop off or a little longer as there's plenty to see around about.
