Great site in lovely wooded area. Gravel lots - very clean facilities, plenty of warm water - but open roofing (so in cold rainy weather a motivator to do things fast). Good rental of e-mountainbikes BUT expensive. Biking only for the fit - or for e-bikes :) Ask for precise starting point of bike trails. Shame, that the Utopia (**** camp site) concept limits WIFI availability to reception area only. We prefer to use our own phone off-buttons for the off-grid experience. Village only 15mins on foot. Market on Saturday mornings well worth a visit. Great restaurants .. our favourite: La Rapière..
Simply one of the best sites we haven been! Even e-bikes on rent! Close to historic town of Sarlat (1.5km).
The site is situated up quite a steep hill after first negotiating the town of Salat. We arrived in the rain on 1st October and was pleasantly greeted at reception. We were informed that a large area of the site was closed for winter and allocated a pitch virtually at the highest part of the site. I had informed the receptionist that I was pulling a 7.3m caravan to which he replied no problem. There was a problem in so far as that the roads were very wet and slippery with wet leaves evident. I only just managed to get up to our pitch. The pitch was big enough but very uneven and situated under an oak tree. We were informed at reception that if we found the pitch to be unsuitable, we could upgrade to a non ACSI pitch. Interestingly none of the non ACSI pitches were situated under trees. I found this strange as we were being asked to pay more for an unshaded pitch on a site promoting camping in the Forrest. We had intended to stay for five nights, but that night we had rain all night, with branches and acorns falling on the roof of our caravan. Needless to say, we didn\'t sleep a wink, even our dog was traumatised with the noise. We sadly left the next day without getting to visit the lovely town of Sarlat.
If we wanted to describe this site in two words they would be.. Steps & Slopes.
The campsite is sited on steep slopes that have been terraced to accommodate pitchs, some large some small.
There is a reception selling a small selection food goods and a bar (closed at 7pm when we were to),and a communal area with free wi-fi and TV open until 11pm.
A nice swimming pool and tennis courts also available.Staff very pleasant.
Be aware that if you have mobility issues this site would not be a good choice as if you are on the terraces the paths are very steep and steps badly maintained. The recycling area is positioned a walk across the road to the camp carpark.
The big positive about this site is that it is a 15 min steepish downhill walk to the beautiful old town of Sarlat (not to be missed).
Reasonable sized pitch but some steep slopes to access the terraces - hang on to your wine glasses! Well maintained facilities and shower block basic but clean. Campsite busy but quiet. Short stroll into Sarlat, which is worth a visit. Good value with ACSI card.
Lovely site set out in small bays rather than long rows. Short walk into the fabulous medieval town Sarlat. Staff friendly.
We stayed here three nights in the Campervan. I wanted to visit Sarlat and this site was so convenient, being in easy walking distance from the town. The campsite is well laid out, with pitches grouped in areas around facilities. Facilities were good. Staff were very helpful eg telling us of special events in the town to see. Wifi was available at the bar/ snack bar/ reception area. We thoroughly enjoyed a Saturday in Sarlat with the superb market throughout the whole town. We also had a trip in the glass elevator which takes you above the rooftops, with a very informative commentary. Trips are divided according to language so you get a good understanding of the history of the area. On the Sunday we enjoyed the Traditional Games Festival in Sarlat - the most entertaining part being the children's race where each child had to wheel a live frog in a wheelbarrow around the track!! A wonderful town to sit in the squares to eat or drink and people watch. A great site in a great location.
Great location, great views and town a short downhill walk away. Rather concerned that reception and bar not open when they should have been and promised pizzas at the weekend were served Saturday but Sunday, when we had run out of food, were not. And no staff around to find out what was going on. Indoor pool was small but open. Outdoor pool closed. Tennis court had surface like crazy paving and boules area was overgrown.
This site is close to Sarlat but, as has been said, up quite a steep hill. The site itself is steeply terraced but most pitches appear fairly level. There are several small sanitary points, not all open at the time of our visit. They are all open to the elements with no heating, but otherwise quite good. There are indoor and outdoor pools..
Someone has mentioned the path in the woods, but you need to be a mountain goat to reach it!
